Wylex and Volex Recall

Certain WYLEX and VOLEX circuit protection products are subject to a recall by Electrium.

The products concerned are Miniature Circuit Breakers, and Consumer
Units with MCBs fitted, that were sold during the period 1st April 2009 to 8th March
2010.

Recalled Electrium Breakers

Find out which products are affected by the Electrium recall here and also see James’s comment below.

The Crabtree Loadstar breakers are also affected.  More info here.

If you have purchased or installed any of these products I recommend that you contact your supplier for further information.

You can also visit the Electrium exchange web site:        http://www.mcbexchange.co.uk/electrium/

or dial the following number to register:
0844 556 4787 (lines open 8am to 8pm daily).

It’s probably better to call and speak to a human.  You don’t need to list all your jobs, just give your details and the makes of the mcbs concerned and you will be sent an information pack.  This will give info on how to proceed with replacements and claims.

Thanks for your reply Steve
I did all the things they asked me for and sent 2 or 3 invoices for the £75 fixes. The lady I was dealing with left the company and the next guy never replied to my mails.i rounded up 3 lots of breakers that were on sites and in my store.Posted and packed them and bought replacements.I just got fed up mailing them after that.I’d ring them but am a little deaf and it makes it a bit difficult on the phone. It was all done before their deadline too.Haven’t bought any of their stuff since but i am sure they be really worried by that.

We use many Wylex products and I agree its finding the customers to replace the faulty equipment . Please note : many of the RCBO at the moment are blowing up ( yes with a large bang ) when energised , this has resulted in my electricians switching on with a brush . We have contacted Wylex regarding this , no answer provided at this time
