If like me, you’d love to be able to find an alternative to spending the best part of £100 every time you fill up with diesel, then an electric car or van sounds very attractive.

At the moment the main draw back with electric vehicles is the 90 mile range but this would probably be fine for electricians working in a their local area or being able to re-charge at their place of work.

Many motor manufactureres are now beginning to release electric vehicles onto the market and some grants and leases can now make electric vans a realistic option.

Here’s what Renault say about their Kang00 Maxi ZE.

Quiet Drive

With its 44kW electric motor, the Kangoo electric van is even more enjoyable to drive than the combustion engine version. The engine is silent and responsive (there are no gear changes) and it offers red-blooded acceleration right from the start.
The result is a level of practicality that business users in urban zones will particularly value.

Thanks to the positioning of the battery beneath the floor, the Kangoo Van Maxi ZE provides the same functional quality as the combustion engine version. Carrying capacity ranges to 3.5 cu.m, loading length is 2.50m, the payload is 650kg and there is a sliding side door.

The lithium-ion battery found in the Kangoo electric van is equipped with a regenerative braking system that produces energy whenever the vehicle decelerates.
